Abstract

GUTIERREZ VIDRIO, Silvia. Representaciones sociales y construcción de la ciudadanía en jóvenes universitarios. Sinéctica [online]. 2011, n.36, pp.1-18. ISSN 2007-7033.

The purpose of this text is to present some considerations on the importance of approaching the topic of the citizenship from the theoretical - methodological perspective of social representations. First, we point out the importance of the study of citizenship more specifically a type of citizenship called socio-cultural that can be adopted to study and to promote the construction of citizenship in young university students who are social strategic actors for national development. This category of citizenship has to do, on the one hand, with the cultural rights, the ethical, ethnic, aesthetic identities and diversity, and on the other, with the communicative recognition of the "other" as a legitimate interlocutor exposed to the information and knowledge that circulates in a globalized society. In addition the paper presents the analysis of some information that was gathered through a survey that that was used as the first methodological step to identify the representation of citizenship that students from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco have. The analysis is centered on those values that are fundamental in the construction of citizenship.

Keywords : citizenship; social representations; values; socio-cultural citizenship.
