Abstract

ESPINO DATSIRA, Sandra  and  MIRAS MESTRES, Mariana. Representation, learning approach and effective use of notes in college students. Sinéctica [online]. 2016, n.47. ISSN 2007-7033.

The aim of the study is to identify the students' representation regarding the use made of the class notes and the actual uses made in the context of a specific learning task. These variables are also related to the learning approach. Participants were 55 third-year Psychology bachelor students. The results allow us to identify different types of use both in terms of representation and effec-tive use of notes. Specifically, we identify different profiles of representation of note-taking's use (as an instrument to gather information vs. as an instrument that allows knowledge construction and learning). It is also possible to identify differences among students by learning approach in both issues analyzed (representation and effective use of notes).

Keywords : Notetaking; use of notes; learning approach; higher education; learning.
