Abstract

Problems in the scholastic achievement, low academic performance and behavioral disturbances of children are very common in the daily clinical practice of pediatricians in Mexico. Difficulties are related to options regarding pharmacologic as well as educational interventions. We describe the diagnostic tools for this kind of problems; and an integral point of view of the different therapeutic options, the strengths and weaknesses of diverse educational approaches and the pharmacological therapy. Finally, recommendations are presented for the management of these children and their families in the pediatrician office.
