This article is a reflection on the constitutive possibilities of writing: semasiographic, glottographic and those linked to legibility. The components are identified and analysed from the point of view of their motivation or their arbitrariness, that is, their correspondence or not with the language at the phonological, morphological, and syntactic levels. The marks of legibility are the most autonomous, those which shape the text as such and organize the discursive order. Such possibilities are inseparable from the materiality in which they are inscribed: a sensitive matter as a signifier of subjectivity and a sensory matter that establishes a continuity with the body.
