Abstract

AGUILAR-CARPIO, C; ESCALANTE-ESTRADA, JAS; AGUILAR-MARISCAL, I  and  ROJAS-VICTORIA, NJ. Profitability and yield of three corn genotypes in response to biofertilizer and nitrogen, in mild weather. Biotecnia [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.77-83.  Epub May 19, 2023. ISSN 1665-1456.  https://doi.org/10.18633/biotecnia.v24i2.1603.

The objective of the study was to determine dry matter production, grain yield, its components and profitability in three corn genotypes, in response to nitrogen and biofertilizer, in a mild climate. The study was established in Montecillo, State of Mexico. The treatments consisted of the Michoacan-21 native corn, synthetic variety HS-2 and Promesa hybrid planting, inoculated with biofertilizers, at different nitrogen levels (0, 80 and 160 kg ha-1). At physiological maturity, the total dry matter (DM), grain yield (GY) and its components were evaluated. Additionally, an economic analysis was carried out. The application of biofertilizer and nitrogen caused increases in the production of DM and GY and their components, depending on the genotype used. Michoacan-21 presented a positive DM and GY effect with the use of biofertilizer. In general, the highest DM was achieved with the application of 160 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in the HS-2 genotype and in the case of GY the highest was with Promesa and 160 kg ha-1 of nitrogen, which presented the highest net and total income.

Keywords : Production; fertilization; grain.
