Abstract
GUASCO HERRERA, Claudine et al. Poliaminas: pequeños gigantes de la regulación metabólica. Rev. educ. bioquím [online]. 2014, vol.33, n.2, pp.51-57. ISSN 1665-1995.
Polyamines are nitrogenated aliphatic molecules of low molecular weight with regular-distributed amino groups along its structure. Among their main functions are packaging of nucleic acids, modulation of membrane receptors and ion channels, regulation of gene expression and cell signaling. They can induce apoptosis, participate in cell cycle, modulate the immune system and the redox balance of the body. They are considered anti-inflammatory molecules and are associated with longevity. However, poliamines are involved in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, then they are potential targets in pharmacology.
