Abstract

BELTRAN SORIA, María del Pilar  and  MONTIEL ESPINOSA, Gisela. Modeling in trigonometric functionality development thinking of middle school mexican students. Relime [online]. 2016, vol.19, n.3, pp.255-286. ISSN 2007-6819.  https://doi.org/10.12802/relime.13.1931.

We present the results of a study focused on the role of modeling in the development of functional-trigonometric thinking. Students’ solutions of a problem-situation, designed based on the Socioepistemologic theoretical and didactic proposal of Trigonometric-Functionality, was analyzed. Evidence was obtained in the students’ productions and arguments, and modeling was identified as the reference practice which allowed the mathematization of pendulum motion.

Keywords : Reference practice; Epistemology of practice; Trigonometric functionality; Motion and change.
