Abstract
FISCAL IRETA, Claudia. Logic, critical thinking, argumentation and ethics in the training of engineers. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.60, pp.137-146. ISSN 1665-2673.
The topic of interest is to define a central concern: what guides the constant formation and training of an engineer, in schools, daily life, as well as in a company or industry? Critical thinking must be like an activated red button in the engineer so that he or she begins, at any moment, to prove and deduce flawlessly and to constantly update processes, techniques, and even principles. We know that to have an argument in science or a logical application in an experiment, we need previous knowledge and analysis, among many other things. On the other hand, reason, common sense and morality are conditions that everybody knows, regardless of social class. Ethics is what fosters sensitivity to and respect for the correct and incorrect conduct of society, not just by thinking about oneself, but also by thinking about the benefit to others.
Keywords : Critical thinking; training of engineers; values; conscience; responsibility.
