Abstract

VILLA LEVER, Lorenza. Secondary education, youth, and inequality of opportunities. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.64, pp.33-45. ISSN 1665-2673.

What would need to be done to transform secondary education into a space of opportunity? In this work, we attempt to present some ideas in response to this question. The work is founded on an analysis of information that reveals the situation of students of secondary education in the country. We reflect on the challenges presented by new technologies for learning, the recent mandatory aspect of this level, and the Integral Reform of Secondary Education that is in process. Within this framework, we suggest policy proposals emphasizing what cannot be left undone.

Keywords : Secondary education; educational inequality; educational policies; Mexico.
