Abstract

BECERRA GONZALEZ, Cruz Edgardo  and  MORALES BALLESTEROS, Mynor Allan. Validation of the Scale of Academic Achievement Motivation (EME-E) for high school students in Mexico. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.68, pp.135-153. ISSN 1665-2673.

Nunez's (2006) Scale of Academic Achievement Motivation (EME-E) is an instrument that has been validated in university students in Spain and Paraguay. However, it has not been used in the Mexican population, nor at the high school level. The objective of this study is to adapt and validate it in Mexico with groups of post-secondary students. The instrument was adapted and applied to high school students in Mexico City. The results demonstrated that the test items on the scale were organized into six factors, which is different from the version by Nunez et al. (2005) and Nunez (2006), and that this (α = .930) is a reliable scale. Future studies could focus on demonstrating its concurrent validity, proving other models and determining its predictive validity with regards to academic yields or educational lag.

Keywords : Yield; instrument; education; motivation; post-secondary.
