Abstract

PEREZ ORTEGA, Isabel. Media competency in academic programs: Is there space for educational innovations with information and communication technology?. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.70, pp.61-83. ISSN 1665-2673.

For the sociology of education, the academic program is a combination of cultural manifestations that tent to reproduce the dominant discourse; this discipline also considers it possible-through the analysis of discursive forms-to reveal the structures and values that inspire and support said discourse. Based on the methodology of hermeneutics, this text analyzes and interprets three concepts: basic competencies, media competency and educational innovation with information and communication technology (ICT) as elements of the academic program of the system of basic education in Mexico. It concludes that this program by itself-structured and organized by basic competencies-does not contribute to the promotion of pedagogical changes or improvements with digital resources, but it does fulfill its function of validating certain academic knowledge.

Keywords : Academic program; basic competencies; discourse analysis; hermeneutic methodology; basic education; educational innovation with ITC; sociology of education.
