Abstract
MARTINEZ CEBALLOS, Evelyn Carolina; GARCIA GONZALEZ, Oscar Ricardo and ROJAS GARCIA, José Manuel. Síntesis de un copolímero estireno-acetato de vinilo por polimerización en solución. Superf. vacío [online]. 2009, vol.22, n.3, pp.33-37. ISSN 1665-3521.
Styrene-vinyl acetate copolymers were synthesized as precursors of styrene-vinyl alcohol copolymers by using free radical polymerization at 70 °C. Dimethylsulfoxide, DMSO, was used as solvent and AIBN as initiator. In addition, the molar ratio of vinyl acetate: styrene between 1:1 and 4:1 has influence on the chain growth of the copolymer. At higher amount of vinyl acetate, the lower yielding of copolymer having high molecular weight. RMN, FTIR, TGA, DSC and GPC data showed that the styrene-vinyl acetate was obtained.
