Abstract

The article mentions the answers given by the authorities, the corporations and the elite of Guadalajara with respect to the Napoleonic invasion of Spain in 1808. Un like what the Mexico City Council suggested, in this province capital where the Creole-Peninsular friction had not reached dangerous signs, the representative forces opposed to the installation of a governmental board independent from those of Spain. The actions undertaken were aimed at reinforcing the love and loyalty Fernando VII.
