In 1932, the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico began to study the possibility of providing sex education in primary schools. The project faced great opposition: parents protested with letters addressed to the president, rallies and strikes. This article analyzes the polemic triggered by sexual education, delving deep into the fears related to infantile and juvenile sexuality. It also argues that those conflicts were part of the construction of the Mexican State, reconstructing the debate on children's education and the participation of family, school and the State in it.
