Abstract

MARTINEZ-CASTILLO, F.  and  MATUS-MIRANDA, R.. Skills development with high-fidelity clinical simulation: Perspective of the nursing students. Enferm. univ [online]. 2015, vol.12, n.2, pp.93-98. ISSN 2395-8421.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.reu.2015.04.003.

Simulation has accompanied health education for many years; however, the development of new technologies has enabled this process to improve. This study was intended to identify the point of view of nursing students on the development of skills by using educational strategies supported by high-fidelity simulation.

Methodology

A systematized search was conducted on Medline, CINAHL, LILACS and Scielo databases, considering only those studies making reference to the experience of nursing students.

Results

It was found that the students consider the high-fidelity simulation an enriching experience because, through the contact with simulated patients, they can develop skills without any risk for real patients, and also they build self-confidence.

Conclusions

High-fidelity simulation is a very helpful learning strategy which fosters the development of thinking skills and the building of confidence and security when performing nursing procedures. It is also important to follow up on the students whose training is partly built on high-fidelity simulation practice, in order to verify that the learning is beneficial for them and above all their patients.
