Abstract

CALZATO, Walter Alberto. San La Muerte (Argentina). Devoción y existencia. Entre los dioses y el abandono. LiminaR [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.1, pp.26-39. ISSN 2007-8900.

This paper is about the devotional praxis of the San La Muerte popular cult in Argentina. There are two ideas used as basis to analyze this popular cult: one is the concept of orphanhood, and the other one is finitude. They both are related to the saint and its considerations about the concept of After Life. The context where the devotional praxis on San La Muerte is analyzed refers to everyday life and to the context of thepeople's common sense linked to the meaning of religious experience.

Keywords : San La Muerte; life; orphanhood; everyday's life; normal behavior; scatology; religious experience and finitude.
