Abstract

SANDOVAL-AYALA, Norma Cecilia  and  SOARES-MORAES, Denise. Vulnerability and Household Assets against Risks: Case Study in Ixil, Yucatan. LiminaR [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.1, pp.56-68. ISSN 2007-8900.

In this paper we present a case study in the town of Ixil, Yucatan State, Mexico, about the vulnerability of household assets against disaster risk. We applied 81 surveys to local people and realized interviews with nineteen people. We found that hurricanes are a key factor in both the perception of vulnerability and risk situations that cause loss of assets in this area.

Keywords : vulnerability; household assets; risks; threats; hurricanes.
