This article undertakes a detailed analysis of the only novel by the Guatemalan writer Luis de Lión. The paper establishes the novel’s character as heterogeneous literature (in accordance with the terminology of Cornejo Polar), as it discusses how the author’s ethnic origin suggests a subversive element with respect to indigenist literature and “ethno-fiction”. Further, the novel’s mimetic constitution is described and the importance of migrant subjectivity is established as part of the author’s intention.
