Microenterprises make an important contribution to economic growth, competitiveness, innovation and job creation in Latin American countries. Paradoxically, despite of microenterprises great importance for Latin American economies, not much is known in detail about how they are studied, especially due to the fact that it is an important activity that needs to be studied in a social way. In that sense, in this article the intention is to show an overview of the approaches taken, the difficulties of this field studies and the needs that prevail regarding researching.
