Abstract

MORALES FLORES, Mónica. Rosa María and Idalia . The visual construction of the guerrilla woman. Latinoamérica [online]. 2016, n.63, pp.65-92. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.larev.2016.11.005.

Based on the analysis of the works of photojournalists Rodrigo Moya and Pedro Valtierra, which were conducted in different times and spaces (Guatemala 1966 and Nicaragua 1979), this article exposes how the Mexican press built an image of the guerrilla women and changed their role within armed groups in Central America. The study of the texts that built coverage and analysis of the published photographs of the guerrilleras Rosa María and Idalia shows how these portraits were part of a media construction of the time, and how they reflect the photographers' own vision of the world they lived in.
