Abstract

LOPEZ MARQUEZ, Carlos. The guessing hand: body construction in the work of Graciliano Ramos and Candido Portinari. Latinoamérica [online]. 2016, n.63, pp.177-204. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.larev.2016.11.009.

This article proposes a comparative analysis between Brazilian artists Graciliano Ramos and Candido Portinari, beginning with the way in which both writers structurally accomplish the body construction and deal with the problem of identity. We will start by reviewing how both authors deal with their own corporeal nature, and then we will contrast it with other examples from their own works. Also, we will review how the body is related to the space in order to determine how the symbiosis between the two serves as a mechanism of expression for the human being.
