Abstract

RODRIGUEZ MUNOZ, Consuelo. The lyrical subject in Lavoura Arcaica. Latinoamérica [online]. 2016, n.63, pp.233-250. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.larev.2016.11.011.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Lavoura arcaica, a novel by the Brazilian writer Raduan Nassar. Based on Emil Steiger's notions about literary genres, particularly the lyrical genre, we scrutinize the construction of Nassar's novel, which reveals a particular form and usage of the language that makes it a narrative poetry. The analysis is the novel begins with the use of a first person narrator who, from his memories (memory), tells his story, which turns him into a lyrical subject.

Keywords : Lyrical subject; Narrator; Raduan Nassar; Brazilian Literature; Memory.
