Abstract

PECOUD, Antoine  and  DE GUCHTENEIRE, Рaul. Migración sin fronteras: una investigación sobre la libre circulación de personas. Migr. Inter [online]. 2005, vol.3, n.2, pp.137-166. ISSN 2594-0279.

The 'migration without borders' (MWB) scenario is increasingly being discussed among academics and NGOs while receiving support from different groups, including neo-classical economists as well as social movements on the left. In a globalised world in which migratory flows increasingly seem to escape states' attempts to regulation, it fosters a critical rethinking of current migration policies and practices. In order to provide a global perspective on this scenario, UNESCO coordinated a research project investigating Its theoretical issues and bringing together regional case studies by scholars from die five continents. After an overview of contemporary trends in immigration and border controls, this article reviews the ethical/human rights, economic, social and practical issues raised by free movement.

Keywords : international migration; immigration policies; human rights; borders; immigration and emigration.
