Abstract

RUBIO ROS, Clara  and  BELLET SANFELIU, Carmen. Geography of Everyday Life of Young Catalan Migrants in London. Migr. Inter [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.4, pp.39-70. ISSN 2594-0279.  https://doi.org/10.17428/rmi.v9i35.450.

This article focuses on the geographies of everyday life of young Catalans who migrated to London during the economic crisis and aims to understand what their life is like in the city and how they interact with the British capital. An examination is conducted of their routine during a working day and a day off using everyday diaries, paying special attention to housing, work, daily commuting, and leisure activities, as well as where all this takes place. The research shows that their experience is characterized by instability, which has been linked to their condition of being young migrants.

Keywords : youth migration; precariousness; everyday life; Catalonia; London.
