This article analizes the institutionalization of gender perspective in Mexico. First, it enquires into the leverage of international agendas on Mexican public policy, its own national political will, and its regulatory framework supportive of equity. Then, it examines the institutional mechanisms that influence gender mainstreaming on Mexican public policy. Finally, it discusses the gender perspective development in Mexico by taking into consideration the international commitments agreed on the Fourth World Conference on Women and its platform of action.
