Abstract

JACOBO GARCIA, Flor del Rocío. Urban wastewater and its effects in the community of Paso Blanco, municipality of Jesús María, Aguascalientes. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.16, pp.267-293.  Epub Aug 14, 2020. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl9162018760.

The purpose of the research is to identify the risk factors related to urban wastewater from the Chicalote River and how they affect the Paso Blanco community. The methodological strategy was of a quantitative and qualitative nature, through the application of surveys and house-to-house interviews. Among the results, it was determined that the main risk factors are exposure to urban wastewater, to flooding, to a toxic spill in the river, and to diseases caused by said contact. The limitations of the investigation were the lack of chemical studies on water quality in the Chicalote river. It is emphasized, as a value of the work, that this is the first social research carried out in the Paso Blanco community regarding the risks involved because of living near the Chicalote River. Lastly, a division was found between the population regarding the perception of risk and the way in which the inhabitants assume it, mainly those who live near the river.

Keywords : Industrialization; urban wastewater; flood; perception and health.
