Abstract

AMAYA-RODRIGUEZ, Geanina; GRACIA, María Amalia; ESTRADA LUGO, Erin I. J.  and  GARCIA BARRIOS, Luis. The construction of the public-collective from the households in the municipality of Bacalar, Quintana Roo. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.17, pp.51-76. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl8172018788.

The aim of this paper is to analyze how a partnership working experience incorporates the needs and interests of domestic units of its partners in the context of reducing social investment in the field. In terms of methodology, a qualitative research which incorporates aspects of the ethnographic method and combines surveys, semi-structured interviews and participant ob-servation was conducted. It was found that, in order to complement resources to meet the needs of households, the cooperative has made a number of strategies that are held in the collective identity of small Mayan producers and relate to other processes of collective work in the studied “ejidos”. Although it does not specifically incorporate interests and needs according to age and gender, the mentioned experience stimulates the generation of collective spaces that contemplate them.

Keywords : collective actions; associative work; settlements; small Mayan farmers; cooperatives.
