Abstract
TERRAZAS, Abel Rogelio. The lectern as a literary character. Elements of representation in some comic performances of the eighteenth century. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.17, pp.273-302. ISSN 2007-8846. https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl8172018871.
The aim of this article is to highlight some theoretical-critical elements of the representation of short dramatic works of the eighteenth century, from the perspective of the lectern understood as a character from both the literary tradition and the popular festivity. In the works studied, the character survives in two ways; first, according to some allusions that link him/her with the cultured and popular traditions; second, in relation to the performatory character of the dramatic texts that have as a fundamental value the popular lyric. As contributions, the study has allowed to value the works in terms of the representation space and to point out some functions of the popular lyric in the works: either to characterize the characters, to use irony for the storyline and serious moral values, or to create festive ambiance.
Keywords : brief theater; readings on lectern; popular theater; novohispanics type characters; traditonial lyric.
