Abstract

BRUNOT, Stéphanie. The inclusion of 6- to 7-year-old children with Special Educational Needs (disabilities: sensory, mental, and/or intellectual), in primary school with RESSU, (San Luis Potosí, Mexico). Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.18, pp.69-109. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl9182019815.

This article, whose objective is to study the factors that possibly influence the educational success or failure of children with disabilities in regular basic education, emerges from a sociological research on physical, social and pedagogical inclusion in a regular school of children with special educational needs, which responds to a hybrid model that preserves the intervention of special education for physical and social inclusion, but not pedagogical. This study, carried out during three months, is restricted to a single school and to three cases of children of the same age who attend the same school grade. It is concluded that the inclusion in a regular school with a Support Unit for Regular Education is limited in the pedagogical aspect and for some disabilities.

Keywords : San Luis Potosí; Mexico; sociology; inclusive education; special education needs or SEN; Regular Education Support Service Unit or RESSU.
