Abstract
MARTINEZ CUERO, Julieta. The impact of transnational corporations in the quality of life of the people in Tijuana (Mexico). Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.19, pp.61-89. Epub Nov 19, 2020. ISSN 2007-8846. https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl9192019946.
The aim of this article is to outline the impact of transnational maquila companies on the living conditions of the inhabitants of Tijuana, Mexico. A mixed quantitative and qualitative analytical methodology was used in two stages: the first focuses on documentary research and the second on the results of field research. Although there was no statistical information available on the maquila industry that would make it possible to deepen the examination of workers' conditions, after two years of documentary and exploratory research, it is proven that transnational maquila companies have an impact on the economic, social and environmental fields in Tijuana.
Keywords : maquila; power; precariousness; well-being; work.
