Abstract

JIMENEZ-BANDALA, Carlos Alberto  and  CONTRERAS ALVAREZ, Andrés De Jesús. From precarization to human degradation. Working conditions in companies supplying the automotive industry. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.19, pp.409-430.  Epub Nov 19, 2020. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl9192019986.

This article aims to analyse the exacerbated conditions of precarious labour conditions of workers in subcontracted companies in an automotive cluster in the central part of the country. These conditions, resulting from the flexible productive restructuring and neoliberal economic policies of the last quarter of the 20th century, maintain market competitiveness and are deeper in companies with low organic capital compositions. The research was carried out by means of a qualitative approach, from the perspective of participatory action research. The results reveal alarming situations in which, structurally, the worker is reified, since, in the social, physiological and biological dimensions, their human characteristics are degraded, thus resignifying the company as a place of suffering.

Keywords : labor flexibility; qualitative methodology; productive restructuring; work processes.
