Abstract

ROSILES SALA, Javier. The power of the majority. The Chamber of Deputies in the first alternation of left. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.21, 00036.  Epub Mar 14, 2022. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl102120201307.

This paper analyzes the behavior and results of a legislative body dominated by an emerging force like Morena after 20 years of divided governments, trhough a quantitative, descriptive study on the collective parliamentary work, in commissions and individual; based on the treatment of data banks. As a result, it provides evidence of a stable trend in the approval of legislative initiatives despite the existence of a unified government implicating that the president and Congress may be being more cautious than expected after the 2018 election to undertake deep legislative reforms. It also analyzes the legislative process at the present juncture, in addition to providing systematized and updated information on the Legislative Power. As a conclusion we found that the behavior of the current Chamber of Deputies does not show significant variations in quantitative terms with respect to previous Legislatures.

Keywords : Morena; Legislative Power; Unified Government; legislative success; constitutional reforms.
