Abstract
FRANCO HERNANDEZ, Erika Natalia et al. Agroecological Markets. Multidimensional Social Processes and Experiences in Colombia, 2019. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2022, vol.12, n.23, 00017. Epub May 27, 2024. ISSN 2007-8846. https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl122320221400.
This article analyzes the meaning of agroecological markets based on the experiences of the Red de Mercados Agroecológicos Campesinos and the Federación Campesina de Mercados Agroecológicos en Colombia. We used the case study method with semi-structured interviews and surveys; the analysis was based on the triangulation of the results with the theoretical framework of the social construction of markets and agroecology. We identified dimensions beyond the direct commercialization of food produced under agroecological practices in the meaning of agroecological markets, whose purpose is to protect health, the environment, and to vindicate the peasantry. The study is limited to rural producers. It makes an approach to the concept of agroecological market from consumers and producers, taking agroecology as a form of food production and as a political project for the sustainable redesign of food systems for peasant agriculture. We found that agroecological markets are constructed as multidimensional social processes from relationships based on trust, which seek to educate about agroecology and its benefits.
