Abstract

PERROTINI, Ignacio. Restricciones estructurales del crecimiento en México, 1980-2003. Economía UNAM [online]. 2004, vol.1, n.1, pp.86-100. ISSN 1665-952X.

Determinant of the widening of the gap in development and slow economic growth has been the insufficient productive investment since the debt crisis of 1982. Perrotini states that adjustment policies, macroeconomic stabilization, and structural change, together with institutional vacuum in the Mexican economy, gave place to an adverse macroeconomic climate for productive investment. The consequent loss of production and employment is the inevitable counterpart of the successful anti-inflationary policies. The author analyses the economic reform applied since the second half of the eighties, as well as the determinants of low investment during the past 20 years.
