Abstract

EIBENSCHUTZ, Juan. The Mexican Electricity Sector: A Paradigm of State Industry?. Economía UNAM [online]. 2006, vol.3, n.7, pp.69-78. ISSN 1665-952X.

Relatively shortly after being created, the Federal Electricity Commission became an efficient, technically competent generator of electricity, responding appropriately to needs and expectations. However, later on it began to become a more or less important government budget item, both because of investments and operating costs. Then the system began to take an interest in its operations, and from being a state-owned but independently operate company, it turned in to one controlled by different state authorities.
