Abstract

COLMENARES, Francisco. Oil and Economic Growth in Mexico 1938-2006. Economía UNAM [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.15, pp.53-65. ISSN 1665-952X.

The author analyzes the different impact of oil exploitation in the Mexican economy and to support the policies set in the period 1938-2006. Highlights the economic significance of oil and its contribution to public finances through taxes and foreign exchange. Incorporates into consideration the evolution of oil prices and export volumes that impact significantly on input oil. The analysis concludes warning about the risks and limits dependence on oil revenues.
