Abstract

LECUONA VALENZUELA, Ramón. Financing of Mexican Pymes: Recent Experience. Economía UNAM [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.17, pp.69-91. ISSN 1665-952X.

This article analyzes the context and characteristics of Pymes financing in Mexico in recent years, in order to evaluate the effects of public policy on these companies. The work begins with a study of the sources and uses of Mexican financial resources, and goes on to describe the structure of the Mexican financial system with emphasis on financing granted by the Pymes. Here, the reduced participation of Pymes credit in commercial banking financing is explained. In addition, reasons are presented for the reduced capacity these companies have for the use of bank credit. Based on these elements, the work concludes by proposing some measures that may be taken to increase the activity of the Pymes.
