Abstract

LOMELI VANEGAS, Leonardo. Higher education and development: Mexico Challenges. Economía UNAM [online]. 2019, vol.16, n.47, pp.3-11.  Epub June 23, 2020. ISSN 1665-952X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fe.24488143e.2019.47.459.

This article stresses that education is a necessary condition to the country for being able to develop all its capacities, and to access the widest knowledge possible. Both for its social transcendent quality, and for direct impact on the population as human developing agent, it is urgent that government compromises itself with a greater sustainment for public education, one with academic quality and universal attention. The text stresses that countries with the best economic achievements share growing and sustained investment in education, and important efforts to develop home systems on science, technology and innovation. In México, access to education is an important factor to social mobility, and a better-educated population can more actively contribute to development: that is why superior education is a matter requiring urgent attention. That is the reason for being so pertinent a greater budget in science and technology, regarding that Mexico inserts itself successfully to world economy.
