Abstract

RUIZ NAPOLES, Pablo. On growth and its measurement. Economía UNAM [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.49, pp.107-115.  Epub Dec 22, 2020. ISSN 1665-952X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fe.24488143e.2020.49.509.

Economic growth, as measured by the increase of the overall production of goods and services in a country from one period to another, is generally considered as a criterion to evaluate the government performance and the population welfare of that country. In Mexico the product growth rate for 2019 seems to be close to zero. In this work we try to analyze some economic concepts related to economic growth, and the way they are measured, in order to have a wide conceptual framework to evaluate the extent to which it is adequate to make responsible a government for the country’s economic growth or the lack of it in its first year.
