Abstract

AGUER, Bárbara. The problem of recognition in a transmodern and intercultural perspective. Andamios [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.44, pp.155-178.  Epub Sep 27, 2021. ISSN 2594-1917.  https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v17i44.795.

At the end of the 20th century, in a context in which the modes of construction of political identities are transformed, reemerge the debate around the problem of recognition. Currently the field of Latin American critical philosophy demands the consolidation of a theory of recognition from its own perspective, intercultural and transmodern. In response to that demand, we will carry out a critique of Taylor´s theory of recognition (1993) in two ways: (a) the review of historical and epistemic emergency conditions of the problem; and (b) the critique of the study of the politicies of identity and difference, from the introduction of, what we will call, otherness policies.

Keywords : Recognition; Transmodernity; Interculturality; politicies of difference; otherness politicies.
