Abstract

URBIOLA, Ana; RUIZ-ROMERO, Josefa; WILLIS, Guillermo B.  and  MOYA, Miguel. Beyond the political concept: the psychosocial effects of the multicultural perspective. Andamios [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.44, pp.295-314.  Epub Sep 27, 2021. ISSN 2594-1917.  https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v17i44.802.

One of the main current social challenges is the management of cultural diversity and the integration in an egalitarian way of the migrant and minority populations in the host countries or among the majority group members. Multicultural perspective can play an important role in coping with these challenges. This perspective has positive effects on intergroup relations, on the level of creativity, on intellectual and civic engagement and on organizational learning and commitment. This article addresses its historical precedents and definition, as well as the effects of its application in different contexts and the challenges that, in practice, this perspective still has to face.

Keywords : Multiculturalism; intergroup relations; cultural diversity; attitudes.
