Abstract

CHAVES, Marina. Recognition and education: struggles of family members of people with disabilities in Argentina. Andamios [online]. 2022, vol.19, n.49, pp.137-163.  Epub June 05, 2023. ISSN 2594-1917.  https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v19i49.923.

This article aims to communicate some findings of our doctoral thesis in Social Sciences. First, we present general characteristics of qualitative research, placing it in a zone of intersections. Subsequently, we recover contributions from Nancy Fraser on the notion of recognition considering the theoretical fertility of her perspective. Finally, we expose some results that the research produced from the dialogue between the voices and the embodied experiences of the political subjects in the struggles for the right to education, specifically, of the relatives of people with disabilities and the Fraserian perspective. Among the main conclusions, we arrive at the fact that the marks of their struggles provide horizons to rethink the educational policies of Special Education in Argentina.

Keywords : Disability; special education; recognition; political subjects; educational policy.
