Abstract

LEMMI, Nora Beatriz. Alfonsina Storni: the woman who transcended her role in Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century. Andamios [online]. 2023, vol.20, n.52, pp.103-132.  Epub Nov 17, 2023. ISSN 2594-1917.  https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v20i52.1000.

Alfonsina Storni, popularized in the famous song “Alfonsina and the sea”, stood out as one of the main poets of South America. She was a woman who defied the Argentine patriarchal rules, established at the beginning of the Twentieth Century: single mother, daughter of a broken family from the interior of the country, a working-class woman without higher education, lover of whomever she wanted, a feminist, a socialist. Her figure and her writings against male chauvinist society and female conformism also, the fame she met during her lifetime, made her transcend her time. Here is her legacy.

Keywords : Alfonsina Storni; feminism; chauvinism; twentieth century; Argentina.
