Abstract

REYES LARA, Daniela. Migration and transnational urbanism in an urban original town. Culturales [online]. 2016, vol.4, n.2, pp.43-77. ISSN 2448-539X.

The purpose of this article is to explain how has the articulation of the global and the local transnational links between migrants and their families generate social practices in the towns of origin and destination creating specific links and thus changing the way time and space of urban dwellers is organized. Transnational Urbanism as concept has allowed to leave the global-local dichotomous approach, realizing that the local as well as global are complex construction processes that are traversed by dynamic multiple and different individuals, where issues such as gender, class and ethnicity should be considered to avoid esentializing the local as a homogeneous space.

Keywords : transnational urbanism; pueblo originario urbano; migration.
