Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze electronic bills of exchange, checks and promissory notes both from the technical and the legal perspective. First we analyze, from the legal point of view, the admissibility of these electronic instruments under electronic Spanish substantive law addressing the legal problems and presenting the corresponding proposals of solution. And then, from the technical point of view, we present some solution schemes considering different proposals for different kinds of checks. The ultimate goal is enabling the development and technological advancement in the creation and management of bills of exchange, promissory notes and checks.
