Abstract

FERNANDEZ RICHARD, José. The administration of the State and municipalities in Chile. Rev. IUS [online]. 2013, vol.7, n.32, pp.148-160. ISSN 1870-2147.

Chilean municipalities constitute a public service and they are part of the State. They are not regarded as part of the government, but authorities responsible for local administration; nevertheless they have, with central administration, subordinate and coordinate relationships. A municipal reform must give major attributions, according to typology assigned to municipalities, following its characteristics.

Keywords : Municipalism in Chile; local government; types of municipality.
