Abstract

CASTRO MARTINEZ, Pedro. Educación para el campo durante la presidencia de Plutarco Elías Calles 1924-1928. Polis [online]. 2015, vol.11, n.1, pp.11-44. ISSN 2594-0686.

This paper is dedicated to study the educational policy for the countryside promoted by the government of President Plutarco Elías Calles, 1924 to 1928. Built upon an approach that considered the rural school in relation to its surroundings, had its orientation in the teaching doctrines of the American philosopher John Dewey. Its most important aspects were the rural schools, the agricultural centers schools, the cultural missions, the House of Indigenous Student and the ejido land banks. Mexico's rural teachers played a major role in this process, under heroic circumstances and facing almost insurmountable problems.

Keywords : Indigenous; Mexican Revolution; Agricultural Centers; Calles; Puig Casauranc; Vasconcelos.
