Abstract

JOHANSSON MONDRAGON, Steven. Convergencia partidaria y globalización. El caso de México (1982-2006). Polis [online]. 2015, vol.11, n.2, pp.23-56. ISSN 2594-0686.

This paper seeks to test one of de main explanations of policy convergence: one that stresses on changes in international economy. Though providing strong arguments, both structural dependence theory and globalization thesis are difficult to validate in the case of Mexico. This leads the author to analyse the justifications that politicians from the Revolucionary Institutional Party, National Action Party and Democratic Revolution Party provide about changes in their parties. These justifications hinge on globalization, which seemsto confirm that the pression the latter exerts on parties ideology and programs is a strong one.

Keywords : policy convergence; globalization; politicians; mexican political parties.
