Abstract
NAVARRO ARREDONDO, Alejandro and GOMEZ MACFARLAND, Carla Angélica. Parliamentary research services in local Congresses: a balance. Polis [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.2, pp.121-156. Epub Mar 15, 2021. ISSN 2594-0686. https://doi.org/10.24275/uam/izt/dcsh/polis/2020v16n2/navarro.
The origin of this article lies in the concern to understand how the parliamentary research services in local Congresses provide information and specialized assistance to legislators. In particular, their information generation capabilities for decision making are analyzed. For this, a mixed methodological strategy was used, consisting of a survey and interviews, with legislators or their staff, to get clues about the way they use the information in their daily tasks; as well as their opinion on the parliamentary investigation services. In this regard, in this research it has been identified that many parliamentary research institutes still have difficulties in meeting the needs of their users, however, they perform functions that are useful for the local Congresses of the federative entities.
