Abstract
MANRIQUEZ-TORRES, J. Jesús; ZUNIGA-ESTRADA, Armida; GONZALEZ-LEDESMA, Manuel and TORRES-VALENCIA, J. Martín. The Antibacterial Metabolites and Proacacipetalin from Acacia cochliacantha. J. Mex. Chem. Soc [online]. 2007, vol.51, n.4, pp.228-231. ISSN 1870-249X.
Chromatographic purification of the antibacterial hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts from the aerial parts of Acacia cochliacantha provided twelve known antibacterial compounds: β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside, stigmasterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside, lupenone, taraxerone, apigenin, luteolin, quercetin, gallic acid, methyl gallate and salicylic acid whose MIC values were determined. Additionally, proacacipetalin, squalene, (+)-pinitol, and palmitic, linoleic, oleic, stearic and myristic acids were isolated. These substances were fully characterized by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy as well as by their physical properties. This is the first time that stigmasterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside and taraxerone are isolated from Acacia.
